The Story of Manteca High’s Homecoming King

MANTECA- Carlos Flores the unexpected Homecoming King. Flores came to Manteca High near the end of his freshman year. The way he got into Manteca Football is unexpected as he joined after the season was over out of nowhere from the normal P.E class.  

Flores was never the most fortunate person, but he never put that kind of energy out to anyone else. Flores is always a nice guy who is respectful and someone you can rely on. He is a friendly guy who will most likely talk to you even if he doesn't know you. Flores thinks this is why this is the reason he won. 

Flores thought that he wasn’t the one who was going to win because of the people that were still in the race after being asked. “Not really, it was fun to be nominated, and I always wanted Owen and his girlfriend to win, but I didn’t think I was going to win”. 

Flores was shocked that he won Homecoming King, during the ceremony he had a small feeling for some reason that he was going to win. Then when it happened shock crossed Flores’ face, but a great feeling did as well from winning cause of the memory of it is something not everyone experiences.  

Flores is a guy who is admired for his personality both on and off the field. He is not the best player on the field, but he is the one with the most hustle because no matter what he is going to give 100 percent.  

“I would say Carlos is a great guy a man of God who is hardworking guy and he doesn’t know what giving up is. He is someone who never slacks off,” Varsity football teammate Mathieu Evans said. 

When he first got to Manteca High, Flores was a little nervous because he had to meet completely new people. However, Flores said that the people from Manteca were welcoming and friendly to him, even the teachers. Which surprised him because of how the entirety of Manteca High started to treat him like he had already been there for a while.  

Flores has always been a hardworking, nice guy, who treated people around him like friends who are also respectful. This allowed him to get something truly he deserved. That something is being the Homecoming King of Manteca High School.
