THE TOWER
You’re walking towards the gates of Manteca High, your day is gloomy.
Suddenly, there’s a bright voice: “Good morning!”
It’s the campus monitor, Emmit.
By the gate.
Your day is unexpectedly shining now.
Seeing a friendly face, puts a smile on your face.
Emmit Gause poses out in front of the Manteca gym after the Representing Veterans Assembly on October 22nd, 2025
Emmit Gause served in the military for 20 years, promoted to first sergeant but is also known as a campus monitor. His community service shows what kind of person Gause is; He’s the vice president of the High School Athletic Boosters and the Delta Youth Football League.
With his actions in the community, his loyal personality never goes unnoticed. Though students of Manteca know him as the campus monitor or one of the leaders for JROTC. He has touched the hearts of many students, and they can never forget him. “Emmit was always really cool; he’s always been really kind and caring to the students. there were many times I’d run up to him and heckle him for a snack,” said Isabella Lopez graduate of 2022, “and without a second thought he’d find me something.”
Students, teachers, and his coworkers can trust him; they feel safe enough to know he’ll understand.
Gause isn’t one of the staff members that has been here the longest, but he is one of the most memorable. He isn’t just a staff member from Manteca High School, he is there for students, his coworkers, and overall, anyone who needs someone to lean on. Everyone needs a positive person in this world and simply greeting people can brighten someone’s day.
He doesn’t just look outside of the gates to guard, but he sees the students, he’s aware of a student having a rough time. He does little things that can go a long way for someone. Him simply asking, “Are you okay?” could brighten someone who’s feeling blue. “…He was always great to talk to,” said Isabella Lopez graduate of 2022, “it was nice walking into school, greeted with a smile and a genuine “good morning!” it was also always nice to just chat about nonsense with him. Emmit is a great guy.”
He has such a strong bond with other people because he is a people person. His love is noticeable and is shown through his actions; his wife even sees it. He has an appreciation for this school and with the years he’s spent here, you can tell he enjoys the school as much as its students enjoy him. “I can pretty much talk to anyone; my wife told me I'll talk to a tree. I like talking to people, so it's really easy for me to connect with people because I'm honest and genuine. I feel like I am.”
Students come to Gause for a shoulder to lean on, or for company. Young kids need some sort of support, even a little can make a difference. Students come to Emmit just to vent their problems, and he knows that, and he’s half enough to give them the advice they need. “…A lot of issues, they vary, but most of them are just dealing with day-to-day life. I have a lot of students. Talk to me because they know I talk to people a lot. Just how to get through certain situations in life, because, you know, they're young, they never dealt with things. I just try to advise them on the best way to talk with things...”
