MANTECA — Unstoppable and fierce, William Brown continues to dominate the track, setting a new bar for excellence.
A standout junior track athlete at Manteca High, Brown has been making waves on the track with his impressive speed and determination.
Known for his explosive sprints and unwavering work ethic, Brown has quickly become one of the best track athletes in the region and school history.
Whether it’s dominating the 300-meter hurdles or pushing through grueling training sessions, Brown’s commitment to excellence is evident.
“He’s a very talented athlete,” said Paul Lyons, head coach of the track and field program at Manteca High. “William is a very hardworking and dedicated student. He consistently pushes himself to be the best he can be and inspires his teammates to do the same.”
Brown's rise in the sport is a result of not only his physical skill but also his mental toughness. He thrives under pressure, whether it’s in a crowded competition field or during the hours of practice.
His ability to focus on his goals while maintaining a calm and determined demeanor is what sets him apart from his peers.
Brown’s biggest achievement is breaking Manteca High’s 300-meter hurdles record, surpassing his own coach. Brown set the new standard at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III finals last spring, crossing the finish line in 38.76 seconds. His performance helped the Buffaloes to the school’s first section banner in track and field.
Lyon’s mark of 39.27 had stood since 2011.
Brown’s record-breaking moment was a milestone that not only solidified his reputation as an elite athlete but also fueled his passion to keep improving.
The hurdles event, known for its technical complexity, has become his signature race, where he blends his speed with an acute sense of timing and precision.
“He’s a very good hurdler,” said Demarco Nelson, a sophomore track and field runner. “He always gets first in his races because of his hard work and his dedication to practice.”
In addition to his athletic prowess, Brown’s leadership has had a profound impact on his teammates. As a natural leader, he’s known for motivating others and leading by example, both on and off the track. His presence pushes the team to elevate their performance, creating an environment of excellence.
“The way he pushes through each practice inspires the rest of us,” said teammate Nelson. “He never gives up, and that pushes us to do the same.”
In his sophomore year, Brown was included in the California State 2025 All-Sophomore Boys Team. Being recognized on this prestigious team was an indicator of the rising star’s potential.
